As the world changed over night, we were forced inside and our beloved gyms were shut indefinitely, as were many of our favourite hangouts.
Since then, so many people were left in the dark as to what was going to happen and for how long. As a Lifestyle Fitness Coach, I wanted to do something to help. Watching people struggle to exercise, and my fellow fitness professionals have their place of work cut off, I knew I had to do something.
I contacted my trainers and other fellow trainers to come together to create a plan for keeping people physically and mentally fit and healthy.
We put our heads together and knew we had an amazing idea to help people keep moving and stay active. I’ll get into that momentarily…
But first I want to tell you a story about a conversation I had with a friend a while back. We were discussing exercise and we got on to topic of movement and how the lack of movement is a disease. To give you a better understanding, I want you to think about water and how movement influences H2O.
When water moves, it’s strong and powerful. Think of a tidal wave or waves from a hurricane/cyclone. Very powerful, very energetic, and very capable of destroying everything in it’s path. To a lessor extent, have you ever stood in the water (up to your shins) at the beach and felt the water sweep your feet out from underneath you?
Now I want you to imagine a swamp, very little movement to influence the water. The water is stagnant, smelly and potentially toxic and lethal. Not much can survive in and around this type of water.
Your body is no different, if you don’t move, and live a stagnant life, you are slowly dying. But the great news, is that you can reverse the effects of stagnancy by getting up and moving. in doing so, you become more energetic, more productive, more alert and aware, more powerful/stronger in muscle and in mind without having to do a lot.
